Asian Games 2026 Day 11: India Wins Two Golds as Medal Tally Crosses 50
India enjoyed a memorable Day 11 at the 2026 Asian Games in Aichi-Nagoya, adding eight medals to its tally, including two gold medals.
The day's biggest highlights came from Neeru Dhanda in shooting and India's women's 4x400m relay team in athletics, while Gulveer Singh, boxing and relay teams added more medals to India's growing tally.
At the end of September 29, India had 53 medals — 6 gold, 21 silver and 26 bronze — and moved into 10th position in the overall medal standings.
Neeru Dhanda Makes History with Gold
The biggest individual achievement of the day came from Neeru Dhanda.
Dhanda won the women's trap individual gold medal, becoming India's first Asian Games champion in women's trap shooting.
Competing in difficult rainy conditions, Dhanda produced a composed performance and finished with 28 hits, setting an Asian Games record in the final.
Her victory also gave India its first individual shooting gold medal of the 2026 Asian Games.
Earlier in the day, Dhanda had also been part of India's silver-medal winning women's trap team, alongside Manisha Keer and Aashima Ahlawat.
Women's 4x400m Relay Adds Another Gold
India's second gold medal came in athletics.
The women's 4x400m relay team of Kiran, Prachi Choudhary, M.R. Poovamma and Vithya Ramraj won gold with a time of 3:29.69.
The victory delivered India's first athletics gold medal of the Games.
For Poovamma, the gold added to her Asian Games legacy after she had also been part of India's gold-medal winning relay teams at the 2014 and 2018 Asian Games.
Vithya Ramraj added another medal to her memorable campaign after previously winning bronze in the 400m hurdles.
Gulveer Singh Completes a Medal Treble
Gulveer Singh continued his remarkable Asian Games campaign by winning bronze in the men's 5000m.
The medal completed a remarkable treble for Gulveer, who had already won silver in the 10,000m and 1500m events.
He became only the second Indian man to win three track-and-field medals at a single Asian Games, joining Lavy Pinto, who achieved the feat at the inaugural 1951 Games.
More Athletics Medals for India
India added several more athletics medals on Day 11.
Pooja Singh won bronze in the women's high jump with a best clearance of 1.84m.
India also won bronze in the mixed 4x100m relay. The team of Gurindervir Singh, Sneha Sathyanarayana, Animesh Kujur and Harita Bhadra clocked a season-best 41.06 seconds.
The men's 4x400m relay team of Vishal TK, Dharamveer Choudhary, Jay Kumar and T Manu also secured bronze after finishing in 3:01.61.
Boxing Produces More Medal Success
Indian boxing continued to deliver strong results.
Ankush Panghal defeated Uzbekistan's Fazliddin Erkinboev 4-1 in the men's 80kg semifinal to reach the gold-medal bout.
The result ended an eight-year wait for an Indian male boxing finalist at the Asian Games.
Parveen Hooda also reached the women's 65kg final after defeating China's Li Shu 5-0.
Meanwhile, Narender Berwal won bronze in the men's +90kg category after losing his semifinal against Kazakhstan's Aibek Oralbay.
India's boxers have now secured six medals at these Games.
India Makes Quarterfinals in Volleyball
The Indian men's volleyball team produced one of the day's most dramatic comebacks.
India came from two sets down to defeat Qatar 3-2, winning the deciding stages 26-28, 25-27, 25-23, 25-20, 24-22.
The match lasted two hours and 47 minutes.
The victory secured India's place in the quarterfinals, completing a perfect group-stage campaign after earlier victories over Vietnam and Hong Kong China.
Cricket: India Through to the Semifinal
Rain also affected the men's cricket quarterfinals.
India's quarterfinal against Afghanistan was abandoned without a ball being bowled. As the higher-ranked team, India advanced to the semifinal, where it will face Sri Lanka.
Sri Lanka also progressed after its quarterfinal against Nepal was washed out.
India's Medal Tally After Day 11
At the conclusion of September 29, India's medal tally stood at:
