India vs Sri Lanka: Jurel's Maiden Century Headlines Day 2 Dominance

India tightened their grip on the second Test against Sri Lanka in Colombo, with Dhruv Jurel's maiden Test century headlining a dominant Day 2 that saw the visitors declare on a commanding 503 for 9.

Jurel's Special Knock

Resuming from their overnight 300 for 5, India added 203 runs on the day, with wicketkeeper-batter Dhruv Jurel the standout performer. His unbeaten 115 came off 177 balls and marked his first Test century, built on remarkable composure and disciplined shot selection — and stands as the highest score by an Indian batting at No. 7 or below on Sri Lankan soil.



Pant Chips In After Injury Scare

Rishabh Pant, who had retired hurt on Day 1 after a blow to the wrist, returned to bat and added a brisk 63 alongside Jurel, the pair putting on 112 for the sixth wicket to help India power past 400. Along the way, Pant surpassed MS Dhoni for the most runs by an Indian wicketkeeper in away Tests, and also moved past Shubman Gill on the all-time World Test Championship run-scoring list.

A Strong Batting Effort Throughout

The declaration capped a dominant batting display, coming on the back of Devdutt Padikkal's second consecutive century in the series, as India piled up a mammoth total to put themselves in complete control of the match.

Sri Lanka Stumble Late

Sri Lanka's response got off to a nightmare start. Prasidh Krishna and Manav Suthar struck twice in a brief burst before the close, reducing the hosts to 8 for 2 and leaving them still trailing India by 495 runs, with the match already looking firmly in India's favour heading into Day 3.
